Cape Koi Aquarium was established in 2001 by Hannes Uys and Christie van Zyl. It has since grown into one of the best Koi dealers in the Western Cape South Africa. Hannes and Christie have both been involved in koi and koi keeping for the last 15 years.
Hannes not only as a koi retailer and dealer but as one of only 2 Shinkokai judges in South Africa. Christie has been an enthusiastic aquarist since a small boy and he has been directly involved with koi and koi keeping since 1989. Christie has completed various courses on koi health and koi appreciation. This is the level of expertise that customers have come to expect at Cape Koi Aquarium.
When Cape Koi Aquarium was started, the goal was not just to sell koi and koi accessories but also to promote koi and koi keeping, and to make it accessible to all enthusiasts. Although Hannes no longer takes an active part in Cape Koi Aquarium these goals are still very much in place today. Cape Koi Aquarium offers a selection of koi from reliable sources. High quality koi are selected in Japan for the discerning hobbyist and many of them has turned out to be show winners at various shows through out South Africa. Whether these fish are for showing or just for the pleasure of keeping such treasures, they bring colour and joy to there owners.Good quality koi are also selected from local breeders for the general hobbyist interested in having these colorful gems swimming around in the garden pond. All the fish sold at Cape Koi Aquarium are fully quarantined. Before they go on sale they are free of parasites and are KHV tested to ensure that they are healthy.
